The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) renewed its partnership with the University of Economics in Varna with an open-ended contract. On Thursday, signatures to the document were put by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Prof. Evgeni Stanimirov, rector of the university.

BTA's cooperation with the University of Economics in Varna, which is one of the leading higher education institutions in economy in Bulgaria, began two years ago, Valchev recalled, adding that the partnership will develop in three directions. Every week, BTA will receive from the university materials about its activities with copyright for their distribution. Thus, Bulgarians, and especially the young people, will be informed about opportunities to obtain knowledge in the country, which in some respects is superior to the knowledge that could be obtained abroad, Valchev explained. He added that through the agency's English Service, foreigners will learn how they can obtain a European higher education diploma at a lower cost and, very importantly, in a friendlier social environment.

BTA will provide internships for university students in its press centre in Varna, which has been growing over the past two years, Valchev added.

The new contract also gives BTA the opportunity to showcase the relationship between the University of Economics in Varna and the business industry, sharing the names of companies that support and invest in education and science, he added. Valchev noted that when talking about such business involvement, it is not advertising, but information and the media should speak with the names of the companies.

Valchev added that BTA is about to sign similar open-ended partnership agreements with all Bulgarian universities. According to him, BTA has agreements with more than half of the universities in the country.

Prof. Stanimirov thanked BTA for the trust in the university and stressed that the partnership in the last two years has shown this trust is justified. Good examples should reach more people in the country, the rector said, adding that the university will produce even more good news so that they are visible to all Bulgarians and stimulate young people both in Bulgaria and abroad.

After signing the new open-ended contract, Kiril Valchev presented Evgeni Stanimirov with BTA's honorary medal commemorating the news agency's 125th anniversary.
