Vice President Iliana Iotova will be on a working visit to Taraclia, Moldova, on September 19 and 20, her press office said here on Friday.
On September 19, Iotova will attend a formal ceremony to award the winners of an essay contest organized by the Bulgarian National Radio. The competition, held under the auspices of the Vice President with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, was open to school and university students from the Bulgarian diaspora in Ukraine and Moldova.
During her visit, the Vice President will also meet with the leadership of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse and its newly opened branch in Taraclia. The branch is the successor of the Grigoriy Tsamblak Taraclia State University and aims to expand access to higher education for young people in the region. The initiative follows up on Iotova’s first visit to Moldova as Vice President in 2017.
On September 20, at the invitation of the Chair of the Taraclia District, Iotova will open the 24th edition of the Unity Through Diversity International Ethnocultural Festival. The festival presents the traditions and culture of the various ethnic communities living in Moldova. In the Taraclia District, more than 70% of the population is of Bulgarian origin, and the Bulgarian community has a history of over 200 years.
