Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Policies for Bulgarians Abroad Denitsa Simeonova addressed the participants in the ninth edition of the international Bulgarian language reading competition for first and second grade students abroad Az Buki Vedi. The event was held on Saturday at the Bulgarian Embassy in London.

“Thank you, dear little friends, for keeping Bulgaria not only in your hearts, but also for bringing the Bulgarian spirit, culture and traditions here to the United Kingdom,” she said.

Simeonova added that she was very excited because many years ago – almost a decade – she herself had lived in London. “And to see so many young Bulgarians here in one place, reading in their native language and honouring the Bulgarian language and culture, really warms my heart,” she said.
