The Bulgarian American Police Association (BAPA) has awarded a USD 1,000 college scholarship to Kalina Egan, a high school graduate of Bulgarian descent from New York, US.

“Kalina, congratulations on graduating high school and keep up the good work in college! We are all very proud of you!” BAPA wrote on its Facebook page.

The scholarship was presented by BAPA's New York representative Officer Vasil Chorlev, and the ceremony was hosted by the Bulgarian Consulate in New York City.

The Consul General of Bulgaria in New York Angel Angelov congratulated Kalina on receiving the BAPA award and wished her success in her upcoming university studies in her chosen field.

BAPA awards three scholarships of USD 1,000 each to students of Bulgarian origin studying in the United States. The scholarships are named in honour of Bulgarian police officer Vladimir Maleev from Philadelphia, who died in the line of duty in 2021.
