Mihail Yosifov Quintet will represent Bulgaria at the Babylon Europe festival in Berlin, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin said Saturday.

The quintet features Mihail Yosifov on trumpet, Dimitar Lyolev on saxophone, Vasil Spasov on piano, Boris Taslev on double bass and Atanas Popov on drums. Trombonist Velislav Stoyanov and singer Militsa Gladnishka were originally billed but withdrew for health reasons, the institute added.

The free-admission event will be held at Berlin’s ufaFabrik, where the Bulgarian set is planned for the late afternoon.

Launched in 2019 within the EUNIC Berlin framework, Babylon Europe moved to ufaFabrik in 2023 and now closes the Month of Europe, presenting artists from 14 regions under this year’s theme Voice as Instrument.
