The Third Festival of Bulgarian Fiction will take place in Hamburg, Germany, on June 14 at the Hamburg-Haus Eimsbüttel, Veneta Terzieva, one of the creators of the cultural and information website bulgar.berlin told BTA. The event is organized by the Bulgarian Women and Families Club in Hamburg cultural society.
The festival is held under the auspices of the Confederation of Bulgarian Cultural Organizations and Activists Abroad, headed by Snezhana Galcheva.
"Authors of fiction from Bulgaria and the world are welcome to participate in the festival by sending their books. The books the authors provide will be kept in the golden fund of the festival for its goals of preserving the Bulgarian language in Hamburg, provided we have the capabilities and the agreement of the authors themselves," Terzieva wrote in an article dedicated to the event.
The books sent by June 10 will be arranged for presentation in the current edition of the festival. Those sent after this date will be included in the activities of the cultural society in November 2025 on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, and then will be included in the next edition of the festival in 2026.
The organizers provide a free exhibition of the books of the participants on the day of the festival, answering questions from visitors, assistance with contacts, interested parties and publishers, Terzieva says.
The Bulgarian Women and Families Club in Hamburg was established on December 4, 2005, by Emilia Juker, supported by her husband, German Prof. Dr. Manfred Juker, and 19 other Bulgarians. The noble goal of the Club is to assist the development of Bulgarian talents in all genres, to support and stimulate their creativity and realization in the cultural life of Hamburg, by providing opportunities and a platform for their performances, the bulgar.berlin website says and quotes Emilia Juker: "I wanted to create a place where we, Bulgarians, could gather and have fun, so as not to forget what’s Bulgarian, and it turned into an entire Bulgarian community."
