The BulCanto Berlin choir with conductor Boryana Velichkova performed a concert in the St. Stephen Iron Church in Istanbul. The event took place at the invitation of the Foundation of the Orthodox Churches of the Bulgarian Exarchy in Istanbul, with the support of the Bulgarian Consulate General in the city, the Bulgarian diplomatic representation said on its Facebook page.
The Consul General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, Vasil Valchev, and the Chairman of the Foundation of the Orthodox Churches of the Bulgarian Exarchate, Dimitar Yotef, greeted the participants in the choir and presented them with gifts related to the history of the Bulgarian community in Constantinople and the 125th anniversary of the consecration of the Bulgarian Iron Church in Istanbul.
The repertoire of the BulCanto choir includes both traditional and new arrangements of Bulgarian folk songs and Orthodox chants. It features singers from twelve nationalities, including Bulgarians, Germans, Austrians, Greeks, Poles, Koreans, and Russians.
