The Bulgarian Rose dance ensemble from Nice, France, will take part in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival, to be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, as part of the international Bulgarian Rose Around the World formation, Desislava Karamfilova, leader of the ensemble in Nice, told BTA.

"The performance we will present is first and foremost a joint production involving nearly 60 representatives of six ensembles from around the world, each bearing the name Bulgarian Rose, united under the name Bulgarian Rose Around the World," Karamfilova said.

According to her, the Bulgarian Rose dance group from Pretoria, South Africa, led by Lilia Simeonova, recently joined the formation.

"Individual participants from other ensembles will also dance with us, including Petya Dimova, popular on YouTube and part of Bulgarian Rose Nice, as well as dancers from the Sharena Kitka ensemble in Aix-en-Provence, France," she added.

Karamfilova also said that Nadezhda Georgieva-Delizhov, leader of the Phoenix Bulgarian dance formation in Basel, Switzerland, will join the performance, along with artistic director Denis Blagoev from the We Folk Bulgarian group in Milan, Italy.

"We called the production ‘With Songs, Dances and Flirting at a Gathering with the Bulgarian Roses’," Karamfilova said.

According to her, preparations for the participation are proceeding with great emotion. Karamfilova said the Bulgarian Rose dance ensemble in Nice was founded seven years ago.

"The ensemble was created with the idea of building a Bulgarian community on the French Riviera, spreading our traditions, our beautiful folklore and our culture," she said.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
