The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau, has announced a 2025 call for project proposals under the Programme for Supporting Organizations of the Bulgarian Community in the Republic of Moldova. The Programme aims to preserve and promote the Bulgarian spirit, cultural identity, and national consciousness by supporting the activities of Bulgarian organizations in Moldova, the Embassy said.

Eligible activities include projects focused on preserving cultural identity and traditions, promoting Bulgarian culture and traditional holidays, safeguarding and publicizing the local Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage, supporting and expanding Bulgarian language education, encouraging study opportunities in Bulgaria, and strengthening ties with alumni of Bulgarian educational institutions. Priorities also include increasing the visibility of community organizations, supporting Bulgarian-language media, and promoting the broadcast and publication of content in Bulgarian, including through public media.

Organizations may apply for funding to cover administrative expenses related to project implementation and daily operations, as well as for improving the living conditions of members of the Bulgarian community.

Eligible applicants are organizations of the Bulgarian community in Moldova registered under local law. The minimum project amount is EUR 2,500, with a maximum of EUR 25,000 for administrative projects and up to EUR 50,000 for projects involving specific activities.

Projects will be evaluated based on their alignment with the Programme’s objectives, efficient use of funds, adherence to the principle of shared responsibility, the organization’s previous project experience, and prospects for future development.
