site.btaZelenskyy Meets with Leaders of Pro-Ukraine Parliamentary Parties

Before attending an open discussion at the National Museum of History here on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who paid a one-day visit to Bulgaria, met separately with leaders of parliamentary parties that support his country in the war effort against Russia.

"My friend Zelenskyy today gave us yet again a chance to demonstrate that Bulgaria is a significant, stable and dependable European country because values like freedom, independence, courage and justice are only part of the values that Bulgarians possess and share with the rest of the European countries," Continue the Change Co-chair Kiril Petkov wrote in a Facebook post, covering his meeting with the Ukrainian leader. He described Zelenskyy as "a friend and a brave person," adding that "today was one of the days that made the difficulties in the formation of the incumbent cabinet worthwhile."

GERB

At their meeting, GERB leader Boyko Borissov told Zelenskyy that "an independent and sovereign Ukraine is key to security of the entire region."

"I stressed that, as a party with a definite Euro-Atlantic profile, GERB will continue to support Ukraine in the struggle against the Russian aggression and that we feel full solidarity with the anguish of the Ukrainian people. Our solidarity is demonstrated, among other things, by GERB's actions in recent days in Parliament with regard to the motions to speed up the renewal of Bulgaria's weapons stocks and the idea to sell the equipment for the Belene N-Plant to Ukraine," Borissov pointed out in a Facebook post. 

"Bulgaria will continue to back Ukraine and its people along with the whole world democratic community," the GERB leader pointed out. "The future of Ukraine, its security and European security are in NATO and the European Union," he wrote in his post.

Movement for Rights and Freedoms

The leadership of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the party said in a press release.

MRF Chair Mustafa Karadayi, MP Delyan Peevski, National Assembly Deputy Chair Filiz Hyusmenova and MRF Deputy Chair Yordan Tsonev told the guest that their party was the first to condemn Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and as early as on February 24, 2022 initiated the adoption of an express declaration by the Bulgarian Parliament in support of Kyiv. 

Karadayi wished Zelenskyy that Ukraine achieve NATO and EU membership as soon as possible.
