Three people have been injured, and residential buildings have been damaged in Odesa, following a late Wednesday night Russian attack with unmanned aerial vehicles, the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, said on his Telegram channel.
As a result of the drone attack three people were injured, two of whom were taken to hospital. In addition, two multi-story buildings, a structure in the historic center, and several houses in the private sector were damaged, he added.
Fires broke out in the affected areas, but were quickly extinguished, Lysak said, adding that emergency and utility service personnel were working at the sites of the incidents.
According to the latest information from city authorities, damage has been reported to 12 residential buildings in the Primorsky district of the city.
In the Kievsky district, a 22-story residential building and a dormitory belonging to one of the city’s universities have been damaged, a total of about 180 windows have been shattered.
A two-story residential building in the Khadjibey district has been partially destroyed.
All emergency services are working to address the aftermath of the nighttime attack.
Bulgarians in Odesa Oblast number over 150,000 and constitute the third-largest community according to the latest official census in Ukraine. In the city of Odesa itself, around 50–60,000 Bulgarians live. The largest concentrated Bulgarian populations are in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
