Lethal Restraint California Transparency
This image from Los Angeles Police Department body-camera video shows the police encounter with Jedison Swagerty, 32, on July 20, 2018. Swagerty was on the side of a busy road yelling and thrashing about, when two police officers arrived. The encounter ended with several officers forcibly holding Swagerty down in a prone position and emergency medical technicians injecting him with a sedative. Swagerty suffered cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The coroner ruled the death accidental.
