New Requirement Set for Children
Aged 12-18 Arriving in Bulgaria from
COVID Red Code Country

Sofia, January 19 (BTA) - Effective Wednesday, January 19, children aged between 12 and 18 arriving in Bulgaria from a COVID red code country will be allowed to enter only after an up-to-72-hour-old negative PCR test for COVID is presented for them, Health Minister Asena Serbezova said in an order.

The test result should be documented in a valid digital EU COVID certificate or a similar instrument. If no such instrument is presented, the child will be quarantined for 10 days. The quarantine period may be cut short if a PCR test is performed at least 72 hours after arrival.

The old rule was that children aged between 12 and 18 arriving in Bulgaria from a COVID red code country were allowed to enter only after a negative test result was presented for them along with a vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate (the same as with adults).

For children aged under 12, no COVID documents are required upon arrival in Bulgaria regardless of the country they are coming from. RY/VE
