Sofia, January 24 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 880,228 after 13,268 tests identified 2,847 new infections on Sunday, 76.78 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 21.45 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,012 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 330 cases and Burgas Region and Plovdiv Region with 187 each.

The active cases are 202,421. Currently, the hospitalized patients number
5,309, including 550 in intensive care. Of the 207 hospital admissions, 84.06 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 19,549.

Another 1,376 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 645,143.

Twenty-eight fatalities were reported (100 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 32,664.

With 1,938 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,097,359 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,976,308 people are fully vaccinated, and 569,133 have received a booster jab.

As of January 24 in-person classes for fifth-, sixth-, eighth-, ninth- and eleventh-graders are suspended.

As of January 27 eating and entertainment establishments will work at 50 per cent of their capacity and visitors will have to present a green certficate, while gambling halls, eating, entertainment and accommodation establishments will work until 10 pm.

As of Monday, MPs have to present a green certficate in order to be allowed in the Parliament building. DT/PP
