The Council of Ministers adopted a decision on Wednesday to open a consulate of Bulgaria in El Salvador with headquarters in San Salvador and a consular district covering the territory of El Salvador. The consulate will be headed by Honorary Consul Miguel Alejandro Gallegos Garcia, a national of El Salvador.

Bulgaria does not have diplomatic representation in El Salvador. Traditionally, Bulgaria's ambassador to Mexico is also accredited to El Salvador. The appointment of an Honorary Consul in El Salvador creates new opportunities for the further development and strengthening of Bulgarian-Salvadoran relations.

Miguel Alejandro Gallegos Garcia is a respected figure in Salvadoran society with extensive contacts at various levels in the country's business circles and public life.
