Two people were injured as a result of an overnight Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s Odesa Region, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said on his Telegram channel on Thursday.
Kiper said that facilities belonging to the region’s port infrastructure had been struck during the attack. As a result of the two waves of drone strikes, damage was caused to equipment and loaded transport vehicles. Fires that broke out following the strikes were later extinguished by emergency response teams.
He added that the relevant services are currently working at the affected sites to deal with the aftermath of the attacks.
Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population group in Ukraine, according to official census data. About 50,000-60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
