Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu met with her Bulgarian counterpart Velislava Petrova on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, the Romanian Foreign Ministry said.

The possible creation of an EU Maritime Security Hub in Romania was the focus of the discussion as Romania and Bulgaria are jointly developing the concept. Toiu and Petrova also coordinated efforts to negotiate budget allocations for financing the centre within the EU's next multiannual budget, the statement said.

The planned Maritime Security Hub is expected to focus on protecting critical maritime infrastructure, disaster response and strengthening environmental security.
