site.btaTwo Bulgarian Juniors Qualify for Singles Quarterfinals at Wimbledon


Ivan Ivanov and Aleksandar Vasilev have qualified for the junior singles quarterfinals at the Wimbledon Championships on Wednesday, and for the first time in 25 years Bulgaria has two junior tennis players to advance to this tournament stage.
The sixth-seeded Ivanov comfortably defeated Jack Secord (USA) 6–3, 6–2 in just 63 minutes, marking his third consecutive straight-set victory in the tournament.
Ivanov will face off the winner of the match between Nikita Bilozertsev (Ukraine) and Ziga Sesko (Slovenia) for a spot in the semifinals.
The 12th-seeded Vasilev defeated Keaton Hance (USA) 7–6(5), 6–4 in one hour and 37 minutes, earning his third consecutive straight-set win at the tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Vasilev will face Thijs Boogaard of the Netherlands.
In girls’ singles, Bulgarian participation came to an end with Elizara Yaneva’s exit in the championship's third round.
