Weather conditions are suitable for tourism in the mountains, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross said on Sunday. High temperatures were reported, particularly in exposed areas.

The Mountain Rescue Service added that the weather was sunny and calm. A light to moderate wind was expected on Mount Botev, while showers and thunderstorms were forecast for the afternoon in southwestern Bulgaria.

A man died in Rila Mountain on Saturday, the Mountain Rescue Service in Dupnitsa said. The rescuers who responded to the incident said the likely cause was a heart attack.

Also on Saturday, a 33-year-old man collapsed on Cherni Vrah on Vitosha and was taken to a Sofia hospital in a diabetic crisis.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, weather conditions in the mountains are expected to remain sunny on Sunday. In the afternoon, convective and cumulonimbus clouds may develop over the mountain ranges in Western and Central Bulgaria, bringing localized showers and thunderstorms. 

Winds will be moderate from the west-southwest. Temperature: highs around 30C at 1,200 m, and around 22C at 2,000 m.
