Bulgarian Olympic Committee President-elect Vesela Lecheva held new meetings on the second day of the Olympism365 Summit: Sport for a Better World meeting from in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday. She held talks with European Olympic Committees (EOC) President Spyros Capralos and with EOC CEO Jan Lehmann. They congratulated Lecheva on her election as President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. The three also discussed the next events on the EOC calendar in which Bulgaria is participating, as well as communication and organization.
The newly elected BOC leadership headed by Lecheva has not yet been entered into the Commercial Register due to ongoing court appeals. On May 17, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said it has provisionally recognized the results of the BOC Elective General Assembly on March 19, 2025 and Lecheva and her team will be the only persons entitled to represent the BOC to the IOC, within the Olympic Movement and at all IOC-recognized events and Games.
In the morning session of the Summit in Lausanne, she met with European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport Glenn Micallef.
The Olympism365 Summit: Sport for a Better World, hosted by the IOC in Lausanne, concluded with two key commitments to strengthen the impact of sport development programmes around the world. These relate to scientific programmes for sport and physical activity, and funding for municipal sports infrastructure and sports participation projects.
