More than 1,200 athletes have entered the 15th edition of the Hereya Open international Olympic taekwondo tournament, which will take place in Asics Arena in Sofia on April 21 and 22. Taekwondo practitioners from 21 countries will fight in the "sparring" and "poomsee" patterns.

A total of 21 of the best referees in the world are coming to Sofia for the tournament. Some of them have been referees at the most prestigious international tournaments, including the World Taekwondo Grand Prix, the World Championships and the European Championships.

The president of the Hereya taekwondo club, Angel Kirchev, who is also an organizer of the Hereya Open, explained that there will be a total of three events. "On Sunday, there will be an E2 ranking tournament, which brings points for the European and World rankings for cadets and juniors. On this day, we will also hold a tournament in the poomsee pattern, and on Sunday and Monday the Hereya Open mass tournament will be held", Kirchev said.

The organizers have provided participation medals for all children who fail to reach the prize positions.
