The 2025/2026 ski season in Bulgaria was closed with an official ceremony on Wednesday, the Youth and Sports Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. During the event, the most successful Bulgarian athletes on the international stage were honoured.
The 2025/2026 season will be remembered for Tervel Zamfirov’s Olympic bronze medal, the double podium finish of Zamfirov and Radoslav Yankov in the World Cup event in Bansko, Vladimir Zografski’s first World Cup podium in ski jumping, and Malena Zamfirova’s Olympic debut.
Speaking at the ceremony, caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev congratulated the athletes, coaches and everyone who contributed to the success of Bulgarian competitors, highlighting the importance of their hard work and perseverance throughout the past season.
As part of the ceremony, Iliev received an award from the Bulgarian Ski Federation for the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ contribution to the implementation of the “Learn to Ski” initiative. The campaign has been carried out for 17 years by the Bulgarian Ski Federation with the financial support of the Ministry. In the current season alone, more than 2,000 children have taken part in training, while their total number over the period exceeds 45,000.
