site.btaTargovishte Signs Twinning Letter of Intent with Chinese City of Hefei

A letter of intent for twinning between Targovishte and the Chinese city of Hefei was signed at an official ceremony in Sofia. The document was signed by Targovishte Mayor Darin Dimitrov and Luo Ping, Secretary-General of the Hefei Municipal government, Targovishte Municipality said on Wednesday.

“I am confident that our twinning will open up new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economy, education and culture, and tourism,” Dimitrov said.

The agreement was signed during a conference on regional cooperation between Bulgaria and China held in Sofia. Chinese business representatives interested in investing in Bulgaria also took part. 

Dimitrov will present the profile of the industrial zone currently under construction near Targovishte under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. According to the municipal administration, topics of discussion include investment opportunities in green energy production, energy systems, smart photovoltaic systems, the automotive and electric vehicles sector, artificial intelligence, and more.

The city of Hefei is the administrative centre of Anhui Province in Eastern China, a leader in scientific research, ranking 13th worldwide, eighth in the Asia-Pacific region, and sixth in China according to the 2023 Nature Index. The city hosts some of the world’s leading manufacturers of semiconductor products for telecommunications and of electric vehicles.

Targovishte Municipal Council decided to establish a twinning partnership between the two cities in early September.
