Most vegetables increased in price on Bulgarian markets during the week, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets said in its weekly bulletin.

The market index for wholesale food prices increased by 0.4 percentage points to 2.235, up from 2.226 the previous week. The base value of 1.000 was established in 2005.

The largest increase was in the price of green peppers, which went up by 9.80%  to BGN 1.95 per kilogram. Cabbage was selling for BGN 0.99 per kilogram, an increase of 8.55%. The price of zucchini was up by 6.87% to BGN 1.68 per kilogram. Potatoes were up by 0.76% to BGN 1.06 per kilogram. The price of carrots increased by 2.44% to BGN 1.26 per kilogram. Ripe onions were sold at 1.12 leva per kilogram, up 0.72%. Tomatoes and cucumbers went down in price by 6.31% and 0.98% to BGN 2.02 per kilogram and  BGN 2.43 per kilogram, respectively. The price of red peppers also depreciated by 3.85% to BGN 2.45 per kilogram.

Apples went up in price by 2.14%to BGN 2.87 per kilogram. Peaches appreciated by 2.43% to BGN 3.71 per kilogram, while apricots went dwon by 2.70% to BGN 3.75 per kilogram. Watermelons were selling for 1.15% less at BGN 0.69 per kilogram. Lemons depreciated  by 1.92% to BGN 4.50 per kilogram.

The price of cow's milk white brine cheese decreased 0.24% to BGN 11.87 per kilogram during the week, while that of Vitosha yellow kashkaval cheese rose by 0.22% to BGN 17.68 per kilogram. Yogurt (3% and above fat content) depreciated by 6.59% to BGN 1.36 per 400 g cup, as did fresh milk, by 4.27% to BGN 2.24 per liter. The price of cow's butter (125-gram packet) rose by 0.96% and is now sold at BGN 3.14 per packet. Poultry meat rose in price by 1.70% to BGN 6.95 per kilogram. Eggs (size M) went up in price by 2.70% to BGN 0.38 per piece.

The price of rice decreased by 0.06% to BGN 3.33 per kilogram, as did the price of mature beans, by 0.61% to BGN 4.22 per kilogram. Lentils went up  in price by 0.56% to BGN 4.32 per kilogram. The price of type 500 flour went down by 0.39% to BGN 1.52 per kilogram. Cooking oil increased in price by 4.07% to BGN 3.27 per liter. The price of sugar rose by 2.86% to BGN 1.87 per kilogram.
