Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh said here Tuesday that the tourism sector in Bulgaria is among the best prepared for the eurozone entry, the Tourism Ministry said in a press release. Borshosh was speaking at the opening of an information campaign for the euro changeover, which took place in the Black Sea city of Burgas in the presence of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, central bank Governor Dimitar Radev, the Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, Yordanka Chobanova, and Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.
The Tourism Minister declared "full preparedness in the sector" for the euro changeover. He believes that the tourist businesses "are looking forward to the euro".
He also outlined the main benefits for the sector: greater stability and trust in Bulgaria as a destination, a stronger international image of the country, advantages for businesses through reduced costs and risks, easier and more predictable travel for tourists, as well as a more favorable environment for sustainable investment.
Borshosh seized the opportunity to thank the mayors of resort towns on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast for the strong partnership with the state and tourist businesses. "Our southern Black Sea coast is a shining example of how joint efforts can ensure a high-quality tourism product. Congratulations on what has been achieved this season," he said as quoted by his Ministry.
