The value of the consumer basket has remained at EUR 57 for the third consecutive week, Vladimir Ivanov, Chair of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets and Head of the Coordination Centre on Euro Adoption, said at a briefing at the Council of Ministers building on Monday.
In wholesale trade since the beginning of the year, the price of beans has decreased by EUR 0.17 and rice by EUR 0.03. Sunflower oil has increased by EUR 0.09, while egg prices have remained unchanged.
Yellow cheese has risen by EUR 0.15, white brined cheese by EUR 0.03 and butter by EUR 0.15, while yoghurt has recorded a decrease of EUR 0.03, Ivanov said.
The price of fresh milk has increased by EUR 0.05 since the beginning of the year, while the price of pork has decreased by EUR 0.29.
Tomatoes have risen by EUR 0.12, cucumbers by EUR 0.17, potatoes by EUR 0.08, cabbage by EUR 0.04, carrots by EUR 0.05 and onions by EUR 0.05. Red peppers have increased by EUR 1.14 and green peppers by EUR 1.73. Lemons have risen by EUR 0.49, bananas by EUR 0.03, mandarins by EUR 0.30 and apples by EUR 0.12.
According to Ivanov, price increases are mainly observed in citrus fruits and vegetables that are not typical for the season.
On an annual basis, compared with the same week in 2025, tomato prices have increased by 32%, cucumbers by 42%, zucchini by 101%, lemons by 71%, red peppers by 17%, mandarins by 12%, apples by 32%, potatoes by 29%, cabbage by 29%, carrots by 3% and onions by 29%.
Sugar prices have increased by 4%, beans by 11%, rice by 3%, flour by 3%, sunflower oil by 3% and eggs by 37%. Yellow cheese and white brined cheese have each increased by 3%, while butter has risen by 6%. Pork has decreased in price by 1%, while chicken has increased by 5%.
According to Ivanov, the market remains balanced and February was a month of stabilization at market level.
