The process of joining the euro area is a long journey, made possible through the efforts of many partners, said Zornitsa Rusinova, Chair of the Economic and Social Council, on Tuesday in Burgas during the launch of the national information campaign for the euro introduction.
She noted that in the coming months, numerous events will be held in almost all cities and settlements across the country, involving all institutions responsible for the euro adoption process, including the Finance Ministry, the Bulgarian National Bank, the Economy Ministry, the Consumer Protection Commission, the National Revenue Agency, the Financial Supervision Commission, the National Social Security Institute, as well as representatives of the business community, trade unions, and civil society.
“We will provide clear answers to all the questions Bulgarian citizens may have,” Rusinova said. “I am convinced that everyone in this room today shares a common commitment to the cause, and I personally thank the institutions and colleagues who have contributed to ensuring that this process is agreed upon in Bulgaria,” she added.
“Today, we are taking the final step toward making our country a full member of the euro area as of January 1, 2026,” Rusinova concluded.
