Burgas Free University Wins EU Funding for Project on Development of New Media for Entrepreneurial Initiatives

Burgas Free University won European funding for a project on the strategic promotion of innovation and development of new media for entrepreneurial initiatives in education and research, the university said on Wednesday.

The project was ranked seventh among dozens of proposals that applied under the Erasmus+ programme. The total budget of the project amounts to EUR 400,000, and its duration will be 32 months, starting from September 1, 2025.

"The main goal of the project is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among young researchers and start-ups emerging from the academic environment," the university noted, adding that modern training materials will be developed in areas such as scientific communication, digital storytelling and marketing with AI.

Among the main priorities of the project are supporting university startups in the transition from scientific research to market implementation, increasing the digital and AI literacy of young innovators, as well as building strong partnerships between universities, incubators and research parks in Europe.

Project partners are the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (Portugal), University of Patras (Greece), Warsaw University of Management (Poland), Barcarena University EIA SA – Atlântica (Portugal), Mugla Sitki Kocman University (Turkiye) and Digital Research & Communication S.R.L. (Italy).

Burgas Free University Rector Prof. Milen Baltov. is the project manager from the Bulgarian side.
