site.btaEconomy Minister Confers with Chinese Ambassador on Trade and Investment
Economy and Industry Minister Peter Dilov held a meeting with the Ambassador of China to Bulgaria, Dai Qingli, the Ministry said in a press release on Monday. The two sides discussed opportunities for promoting trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and China.
During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral trade totaled over USD 1 billion in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 27.8% increase compared to the same period of 2024.
Dilov emphasized the significant untapped potential for improving economic performance and boosting bilateral trade. "We view the development of bilateral economic relations in the context of Bulgaria’s full membership in the European Union and the Schengen area," he added.
He also highlighted Bulgaria’s efforts to open new export markets for Bulgarian businesses and attract investment in sectors where the country has traditional advantages, as well as in high value-added industries that enhance economic competitiveness. These include mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing and parts production, electronics and electrical engineering, information and communication technologies, agriculture, and the food and beverage industry.
Ambassador Dai expressed confidence that the strong ties between the two countries will continue to grow, stressing that China values its partnership with Bulgaria.
The two officials also discussed opportunities for development and joint projects in areas of mutual interest.
