The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has published its coin programme for 2026 and a preliminary coin programme for 2027-2028, which will be the first commemorative Bulgarian euro coins. The programmes are published on the Central Bank's website.

On July 8, 2025, the Governing Council of the BNB approved the Commemorative Coin and Banknote Production Programme for 2027 – 2028.

The programme for 2026, when the country will join the eurozone on January 1, provides for the minting of six commemorative coins: the traditional gold coin with unlimited mintage “Virgin Mary – Golden Apple”; a silver coin, “125 Years of the Electric Tram in Bulgaria”; a copper coin "150 Years since the Birth of Krastio Sarafov," a silver coin "150 Years since the April Uprising," a silver coin "Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration of God," and a gold coin "St. Ivan of Rila".
