The price increase is not directly related to the adoption of the euro, National Assembly Chairwoman Nataliya Kiselova told journalists on Saturday in the village of Manastirishte, Vratsa, Northwestern Bulgaria, reminding that Bulgaria currently uses the Bulgarian lev as its currency.
According to her, the price increase is a consequence of other factors, such as “military actions, seasonality, foreign goods.” “Not all Bulgarian fruits and vegetables have appeared on the Bulgarian market yet. So it is normal that where there are imports, there are higher prices,” Kiselova noted.
The Parliament Chair took part in the opening of the harvest season in Manastirishte at the farm of agricultural producer Georgi Georgiev.
