site.btaPresident Radev Opens New BTL Industries Production Facility in Plovdiv

President Rumen Radev attended the official opening of the new production facility of Czech company BTL Industries in Plovdiv, South Central Bulgaria on Thursday. 

Radev described the investment as a model for the entire Bulgarian economy and noted that it is the largest investment in Plovdiv in recent years and the biggest Czech investment in Bulgaria to date.

“This investment represents a model which we want the entire Bulgarian economy to become,” Radev said. In his view, this is the largest investment in Plovdiv in years and the biggest Czech investment in Bulgaria so far. “I regard this event as a continuation of a tradition spanning over a century,” Radev added. He recalled that after the [Czech] Liberation, Czechia made a significant contribution to laying the foundations of Bulgarian industry.

“I give it as an example of the result that true friendship between Bulgaria and Czechia can achieve. The President and the Prime Minister [of Czechia] and I are in regular contact, and at each of our meetings we discuss how to make our relations and our cooperation in the industrial sector far more intensive,” Radev said.

He noted that these good relations at political level between the countries are evolving into a deepening of bilateral trade and economic ties.

“Czech companies have long established themselves globally as a symbol of high quality production, services, and innovation, so I am pleased to see more Czech investment in Bulgaria. This investment is in a highly humane field that contributes to improving the quality of life for millions of citizens around the world. It is not only a symbol of high efficiency and effectiveness,” Radev said.

The new manufacturing base covers more than 29,000 sq. m. of built area and the investment is valued at almost BGN 100 million.

The new plant will provide modern working conditions for over 700 employees. Another 500 jobs are expected to be created in the following years.

BTL Industries, which has been operating in Plovdiv for 27 years, is a global leader in the development and manufacture of medical equipment for physiotherapy, cardiology, and aesthetic medicine.
