There are no grounds for hesitation regarding Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone. The Bulgarian State must not allow its position to weaken at this moment. The position is clear – until July 8, we must continue working as required in order to become a full member as of January 1 next year, Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova told journalists here on Saturday.
Her comments came in response to the statement by the leader of the Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, who announced that he had sent 52 letters to all presidents and prime ministers of EU member states, requesting their assistance in halting Bulgaria’s Eurozone accession process.
“Every party has the right to decide how to respond in certain situations. I think some members of the opposition were overly enthusiastic – some positively, others negatively. That was their decision,” the Parliament Chair added. Kiselova reminded the public that an awareness campaign about the adoption of the euro is beginning. “Prices will be shown in both currencies to ensure a smooth transition,” she said.
Kiselova is visiting Bolyarovo on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the “The Willow Whistle Plays” National Children’s Folklore Festival, which features more than 500 children and young people aged 5 to 19 from across the country.
