site.btaBulgaria Has Second Largest Growth in EU of Construction Output in March Y/Y


Construction production in both the European Union and the eurozone in March increased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis (compared to February), show seasonally adjusted data from the European statistical office Eurostat, published on Tuesday.
On an annual basis (compared to March 2024), construction in the EU decreased by 0.7%, and in the eurozone it decreased by 1.1%.
In Bulgaria, construction production in March 2025 increased by 1.8% on a monthly basis (compared to February), which ranks this country in fifth place in the EU. The leader was Austria (5.9%), followed by Romania (4.6%), Czechia (3.5%) and Germany (2.1%).
The largest monthly decline was recorded in Portugal (4.3%), followed by Slovenia (4%) and Poland (3.7%).
In the EU, construction production in March 2025 increased by 0.8% on a monthly basis in the construction of buildings, by 2.8%in civil engineering and by 0.15 in specialized construction activities.
In the eurozone, a monthly increase was recorded by 0.95 in the construction of buildings, by 4.1% in civil engineering and by 0.1% in specialized construction activities.
Among the EU countries for which data were provided, the largest annual increase in March was recorded in Czechia (12.7%), Bulgaria (8.8%) and Austria (7.4%).
The most significant annual declines were recorded in Slovenia (11.6%), Belgium (6.6%) and Spain (6%).
In the EU, construction production in March 2025 decreased by 1.6% year-on-year in the construction of buildings, increased by 0.8% in civil engineering and by 1% in specialized construction activities.
In the eurozone, construction production decreased by 2.95 year-on-year in the construction of buildings, increased by 0.8% in civil engineering and by 1% in specialized construction activities.
