Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova attended a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in Brussels on Tuesday, her Ministry's press centre said. "Measures to further integrate EU capital markets should be accompanied by measures to promote the development of national markets, as local ecosystems are essential for financing start-ups and SMEs," she pointed out.
The European Commission (EC) has presented the Savings and Investments Union strategy, adopted on March 19, whose main objective is to improve financial opportunities for EU citizens.
Petkova noted that as regards the change of the current securitization framework, Bulgaria believes that legislative measures and risk transfer should not undermine financial stability and investor protection.
During her visit to Brussels, she also commented on the positive assessment of Bulgaria's medium-term fiscal and structural plan for the 2025-2028 period published by the European Commission. "This is extremely good news for Bulgaria because this plan defines what will be the financial framework of our country for the next three years. The positive assessment means that Bulgaria will have public finances that are stable and sustainable," Petkova said.
