site.btaEconomy Minister: There Is No Economic Crisis in Bulgaria, Only Political
Currently, the crisis in Bulgaria is political, there is no economic crisis, said caretaker economy Minister Nikola Stoyanov on the show “In Focus” on Nova TV on Sunday.
The economy is outperforming all plans and forecasts, he added.
Stoyanov said that the caretaker government leaver the country’s economy in a much better shape compared with 10 months ago, when the cabinet was appointed. Stoyanov said that now inflation has halved.
“I am happy with what we did. When we took office, there was crisis. We were worried about how we would survive the winter, inflation was nearly 19%. In ten months we managed to halve inflation. I am sure that inflation in May will be below 10%,” said Stoyanov.
The Minister said that on June 10 is the deadline for the public discussion on a bill for ceiling on markups.
The message is that given these high prices, those who are vulnerable, must be able to buy staple foods at tolerable prices, said the Minister.
