site.btaObjective Reporting Is Key in Tourism Coverage, Says Nova Broadcasting Group Producer
The role of the media in covering any topic is to remain objective, Marta Evtimova, chief producer at Nova Broadcasting Group, said during the forum "BG Tourism – Summer 2026", organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). She said Nova strives to cover tourism-related topics – whether challenges or successes in Bulgaria’s tourism sector – in the most objective way possible and solely in the interest of viewers. The event was held at the Ensana Aquahouse Hotel in the Sts. Constantine and Helena resort near Varna.
Evtimova emphasized that tourism coverage extends beyond regular news bulletins and is explored in depth through specialized original projects and documentary series. Among the successful examples she highlighted were "To Catch the Forest” with Galya Shtarbeva, “To There and Back Again” with Nikolay Vasilkovski, “Experience Bulgaria” and “Nova’s Theme” – documentary format focusing on niche sectors such as wine tourism.
“There are wonderful places in Bulgaria that feel like an oasis, but the environment surrounding them and the route through which we reach them are equally important,” Evtimova said.
The meeting was the ninth edition of BTA’s initiative to host tourism forums twice a year – ahead of the summer and winter tourist seasons – bringing together representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism industry, nongovernmental organizations, academics, and experts to discuss key messages in promoting Bulgaria as a tourist destination for the upcoming season.
