The construction output index rose by 3.1% in February 2026 from the previous month, preliminary and seasonally adjusted data from the National Statistical Institute showed on Thursday.

Calendar-adjusted figures put the increase at 8% compared with February 2025.

The institute’s data also showed that at the start of the year the index fell by 1.2% month to month, while rising by 4% year on year.

All main categories posted month-to-month growth in February. Building construction rose by 3.9%, civil engineering by 3.3%, and specialized construction activities by 1.9%.

Compared with February 2025, building construction output increased by 16.8% and civil engineering by 7.7%, while specialized construction activities fell by 1.2%.
