                                At the invitation of Assoc. Prof. D.Sc. Kiril Kartaloff, Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, will visit Bulgaria. On November 12, at 5:30 p.m., he will deliver a Lectio Magistralis titled "Peace on Earth, which man throughout the ages has so longed for and sought After" at the Prof. Marin Drinov Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), the organizers said.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Bulgarian Academy of Sciences President Prof. Evelina Slavcheva, Apostolic Nuncio to Bulgaria and North Macedonia Archbishop Luciano Suriani, and Bishop Petko Valov, President of the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Church in Bulgaria.
The discussion will feature Prof. Emeritus Vesselin Petrov of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at BAS, Prof. Rumyana Christidi, Head of Jewish Studies at Sofia University, and Dimitar Mihaylov, Ambassador-at-Large for Culture, History and Religion at the Foreign Ministry.
According to the organizers, the visit of such a high-ranking cleric and diplomat, coming from one of the world’s conflict hotspots and devoted to the cause of peace and justice, is a recognition not only of Assoc. Prof. Kartaloff’s work and the authority of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences but also of Bulgaria’s image as a country of peace and tolerance that supports the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
