The 2nd Conference on Advanced Topics in Photonics (CATP'25), dedicated to current challenges and achievements in the fields of photonics and laser physics, was held at the UNITe Centre of Excellence at Sofia University, the Union of Physicists in Bulgaria (UPB) said on Friday.

The scientific forum gathered over 55 specialists from Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, the United States and Australia, who presented their latest research findings and discussed cutting-edge developments in photonics such as nonlinear optics, spectroscopy, quantum optics, metamaterials and material processing, singular optics, and more.

A keynote speech was delivered by Allen Weeks, General Manager of the Extreme Light Infrastructure international consortium, UPB reported.

The conference also focused on young scientists and students, providing them with opportunities for personal presentation. During a dedicated poster session, young researchers had the chance to showcase their achievements and those of the laboratories and institutes where they work.
