site.btaPlaywright Zachary Karabashliev Receives Askeer Award, Director Rostislav Georgiev Named Rising Star


The winners of the Askeer Awards for drama in 2025 were announced on Saturday at a gala hosted by the Bulgarian Army Theatre.
Zachary Karabashliev received an Askeer award for playwriting - for "Lisbon", a production of the Youth Theatre. The award is given by a committee chaired by Prof. Kamelia Nikolova and members Anita Angelova, Prof. Vladimir Atanasov, Meglena Karalambova and Romeo Popiliev.
Rostislav Georgiev was named a rising star - for his direction of "BIFEM" by Lyudmila Petrushevskaya (Sava Ognyanov Drama Theatre - Ruse) and "Marriage" by Gogol (Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre - Blagoevgrad).
Petya Silyanova received an Askeer for supporting actress, for the role of the mother in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" by Tennessee Williams (Sofia Theatre), and Leonid Yovchev was recognized for his role of Peter Stockmann in "An Enemy of the People " by Henrik Ibsen (Small City Theatre Behind the Canal). /MORE
