The fifth University Book Week kicked off at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) on Monday. Running until April 12 and mottoed "Translation: A Bridge between Cultures", the event is organized by the Bulgarian Translators' Union and the Bulgarian Book Association, a partner of all University Book Weeks.

Fifteen publishing houses with 48 book stands are taking part in the fifth University Book Week, UNWE Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov said during the opening of the event.

Attending the opening ceremony were outgoing Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova and Angela Rodel, Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission, translator, and Booker Prize winner, among others.

The University Book Week will bring together translators who will present literature translated in the five languages studied at UNWE: English, German, French, Spanish, and Russian. The event began with a book launch of the English-language edition of Vera Mutafchieva's historical novel The Case of Jem, translated by Angela Rodel.
