Well-known Israeli clarinet player Orit Orbach will be the soloist at a Music of Israel concert of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jerusalem Opera Music Director Omer Arieli, at the Bulgaria Hall on April 7.

The programme features works by Israeli composers: Joseph Bardanasvili's Mirgatory Birds, Tzvi Avni's Prayer for Strings, Yehezkiel Braun's Psalm, Paul Ben-Haim's Music for Strings, and Andre Hajdu's Jewish Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra.

Orit Orbach is among the world's most respected clarinet players. She performs as soloist of the Israeli Philharmonic conducted by Zubin Mehta, the Jerusalem Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Sinfonietta and other orchestras. She is on the jury of a number of international competitions, conducts three brass ensembles and conducts clarinet master's class worldwide, Klezmer seminars and improvisation.

Omer Arieli is Music Director of several important institutions and bodies in Jerusalem: The Jerusalem Opera, the Oratorio Choir, the Hovevei Hamusica Orchestra, and the Academy of Music Opera Workshop (where he is a Senior Lecturer). He conducts most Israeli orchestras and has conducted the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, the American Symphony, the Orchestra Maderna and many students’ orchestras. In the 1990s he performed across Italy as a violinist and pianist and worked at the Estate Fiesolana and Puccini festivals, at Rome's Opera and the Arena di Verona.
