The Sofia Opera and Ballet will stage productions in Germany, Turkey and South Korea at the beginning of the new season, said Opera Director Academician Plamen Kartaloff.

„We’ll be making a second visit to the Bavarian city of Fussen, which has a festival theatre and across the lake is the Neuschwanstein Castle, where it seems that the spirits of Wagner and Ludwig II live so that they can protects us as they already did during our fist visit when Bulgarians performed Wagner in his native country, The second visit gives us reason to be genuinely motivated and continue with the tetralogy “The Ring of the Nibelung”, which will have a new life,“ said Academician Kartaloff, The visit is in late September and early October.

On the back of the tour in Germany the opera will depart for the South Korean festival town Daegu where it will perform “Elektra” by Richard Strauss.

„In early November we’ll be preforming in Turkiye, which this year marks the centenary of the Turkish Republic and an anniversary of Kemal Ataturk. We’ll be performing “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini.

“Part of the international programme includes productions in countries with whose national news agencies BTA has steady ties,” said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev. „BTA has excellent coperation with dpa and APA, the German and Austrian news agencies We have daily partnership with the Turkiye’s Anadolu Agency. I hope and not just because of the upcoming tour to South Korea to step up cooperation with the agency of South Korea,” he added.
