The Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) will provide free travel to all children under the age of 14 on the occasion of International Children's Day, June 1, said the BDZ press center.

Young passengers can take advantage of this opportunity from midnight on June 1 to midnight on June 2 on all passenger and express trains. Provided that the journey starts on a night train that departs before midnight on June 2, the free journey is valid until the train arrives at its terminus on the following day.

Children's age is certified with a copy of a birth certificate or other document proving age, as well as with railway cards. Children under the age of 10 must travel with a companion, the company added.

On June 1, steam locomotive trips will be organized from Sofia to Pernik and back, as well as on the narrow-gauge train from Septemvri to Velingrad and back.

Sofia will also celebrate International Children's Day with dozens of events, reported the Sofia Municipality. Theatre, music, book workshops and many games will be hosted throughout the day and during the weekend.
