site.btaBulgarian Postage Stamp Launched as Part of EU Support for Ukraine

A set of two Bulgarian postage stamps and an illustrated stamped envelope, demonstrating the country's solidarity with Ukraine during a time of war, was launched into circulation at Sofia's General Post Office on Friday. A special souvenir cachet was used to cancel the first items.
As part of 2023 EUROPA Stamps, Europe Day initiative of European postal operators, one of the Bulgarian stamps features a common design motif based on the theme of "PEACE - the highest value of humanity".
The idea to launch this theme came from the designated postal operator of Ukraine, JSC Ukrposhta. The winning design from Post Luxembourg has been adopted by the members of PostEurop, the association of European public postal operators. "The New Peace Symbol" was selected out of 29 entries submitted during the 2023 EUROPA design competition.
The second stamp features a Bulgarian embroidery pattern. The designer, Lyuba Tomova, explained to BTA that she aimed precisely to show this country's cultural and historical essence.
