site.btaTISP: MRF–New Beginning Has No Role in Government
“It is normal for a minority government to seek and find support from parliamentary political groups,” Stanislav Balabanov from junior coalition partner There Is Such a People (TISP) told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday.
“The reality is that MRF–New Beginning is not receiving any power, neither in the executive nor in the legislative branch,” the MP added. “What could be better than having the legislative program of the three parties receive the support of other political groups?” he asked.
Balabanov further stated: “Over the past few weeks, There Is Such a People has accomplished two very important things. Through our actions in the Joint Governance Council, the ruling ‘minority’ preserved its structure of three political formations, and we also proposed an intelligent solution for the rotation of the chair of Parliament.”
Regarding the rotation of the chair of the National Assembly, Balabanov noted that it is done to ensure stability and to prevent questions about possible tensions within the ruling majority. “It is now Raya Nazaryan’s turn, as traditionally the largest political force has always had the opportunity to hold the position of chairman,” he said. After her term, the chairman will be nominated from There Is Such a People, and afterwards from BSP, he added.
Balabanov also said that they had asked the other parties in the ruling majority to provide a report on the legislative program. “You will actually see that most of what was planned for the year is being implemented,” the MP said.
Of the budget, Balabanov said that they would do everything possible to ensure it is “as it should be,” emphasizing that this will be the first budget denominated in euros.
