There will now be a meeting of the Chairmanship Council. A resignation is not subject to a vote. Today [Wednesday] we are signing the coalition agreement, so you know - she was elected at a time when there was still no functioning Parliament, GERB leader Boyko Borissov commented Nataliya Kiselova's resignation as Parliament chair, whether it will be put to the vote in Parliament and whether Raya Nazaryan will be nominated to succeed Kiselova.
“The rotation will now be included in the agreement - [it will take place] every 10 months between the three parties,” Borissov added.
Asked whether there is tension between GERB and BSP – United Left regarding the rotation of the parliamentary chairmanship, Borissov replied: “I don’t see what tension there could be.”
At the start of Wednesday's sitting of the National Assembly, Nataliya Kiselova announced that she is stepping down as Parliament Chair. On Tuesday, the government coalition of GERB-UDF, BSP-United Left and There Is Such a People decided that Nazaryan will replace Kiselova as Chair of the National Assembly. The Joint Governance Council of the three-party coalition decided earlier on Tuesday to introduce rotational chairmanship of parliament. GERB said on Facebook that the rotation will take place every ten months.
