The Ministry of Interior has not proposed any extraordinary pay rise other than what may eventually be suggested by the Ministry of Finance, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov told the media on Wednesday. He was responding to a BTA question about whether the ministry’s draft budget for 2026 includes a pay rise for ministry employees.

He added that the Interior Ministry will follow the policy proposed by the Finance Ministry with regard to public sector salaries.

Discussing the government coalition and the restored quorum in the National Assembly, Mitov said that the government and the state have clear priorities. "Our most important goal at the moment is for Bulgaria to join the eurozone and to ensure the full disbursement of funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which in recent years have unfortunately been at risk — and some of them lost — due to poor governance and the frequent change of governments," Mitov said.
