site.btaAuthorities to Check for Construction Violations in Elenite Resort Village after Flooding Disaster

As early as Friday, officials of the National Construction Control Directorate will be sent to the Elenite resort village to determine whether there are any violations in construction or deviations from the approved general development plans of the municipalities. Regional Development Minister Ivan Ivanov told a news briefing at the Council of Ministers in connection with the flooding in the resort village of Elenite.

Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh has also ordered an investigation into how construction permits for hotels in the resort areas were issued, and whether any of these constructions could in any way have contributed to such a disaster. It will be clarified whether this is a case of a severe natural disaster that is difficult to control, or whether the cause is incompetence on the part of the local authorities, the Tourism Minister added.
